Terms of Service & Privacy Policy

These Terms of Service govern your use of the Bey Wallet mobile application, website (bey.cash), code, and related services.

Last Updated: July 22, 2026

1. Nature of the Services

Non-Custodial

1.1 Non-Custodial Software Client

Bey Wallet is a non-custodial software application that performs wallet operations on your device and may communicate with third-party infrastructure—including Cashu mints and Nostr relays—when necessary to provide core functionality. We do not operate custodial servers that hold your ecash or execute transactions on your behalf.

1.2 Local Key Generation & Storage

Private keys (including Nostr nsec keys) and wallet recovery material (seed phrases) are generated and stored locally on your device using platform-provided secure storage mechanisms where available. Bey Wallet does not have access to, custody of, or the ability to view, recover, or reset your private keys or seed phrases.

1.3 Decentralized Relays & Network Transport

Nostr messages and payment signals are transmitted through decentralized, independent relays. Bey Wallet does not operate, control, or monitor these third-party relays and is not responsible for relay uptime, network censorship, or relay security.

1.4 Public Username Directory

If you choose to claim a username@bey.cash identifier, you acknowledge that this mapping (username to Nostr public key) is stored in a publicly accessible directory (.well-known/nostr.json) to facilitate user discovery.

1.5 No Control Over Cashu Mints

Bey Wallet does not issue ecash and does not operate, verify, or control any Cashu Mint. The choice of any Mint and any relationship established with that Mint is solely between you and that Mint. Bey Wallet has no involvement, responsibility, or liability in any Mint operations.

1.6 No Custody of Funds

At no time does Bey Wallet have custody, possession, or control of your ecash or Bitcoin. Transactions occur solely by your action through your chosen Mint and network transport.

1.7 Open Source Code

The application source code is open source. Bey Wallet is not responsible for third-party builds, forks, or modified instances of the code running outside our official distribution channels.

2. User Responsibilities & Disclaimers

Risk Warning

2.1 User's Sole Responsibility

You understand and agree that you use the Application at your sole risk. You are exclusively responsible for safeguarding your device, seed phrases, and private keys, and for evaluating the integrity of any Cashu Mint or relay you connect to.

2.2 Key Management and Backups

You are solely responsible for creating and retaining backups of your seed phrase and keys. If you lose your seed phrase, delete the Application, or lose your device, your ecash tokens and Nostr identity cannot be recovered by Bey Wallet.

Critical Cashu Mint Risk Warning

Cashu ecash is a bearer-like digital token generally redeemable only through the specific Mint that issued it. If a Mint becomes unavailable, insolvent, malicious, or otherwise fails to honor redemption requests, you may permanently lose access to the ecash associated with that Mint. Bey Wallet does not guarantee the solvency, availability, security, or continued operation of any Mint.

3. Compliance with Laws & Regulations

Compliance

3.1 Legal Compliance

You are solely responsible for determining whether your use of ecash, cryptography, and digital asset wallets complies with applicable laws, regulations, and tax obligations in your jurisdiction.

3.2 Not Financial Services

The Application is non-custodial software and does not constitute regulated banking, money transmission, e-money, or payment services.

4. Risks & Limitation of Liability

Disclaimers

4.1 Assumption of Risk

You acknowledge that ecash, cryptographic protocols, and peer-to-peer networks involve inherent risks including software bugs, network disruption, key loss, mint failure, and regulatory changes.

4.2 Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Bey Wallet and its contributors will not be liable for losses arising from risks inherent in self-custodial wallet software, ecash tokens, third-party Cashu mints, Nostr relays, software vulnerabilities, lost credentials, unauthorized access to your device, or your use of third-party services.

4.3 No Warranties

THE APPLICATION AND SERVICES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

5. Informal Dispute Resolution

Support

If you have any dispute, question, or concern regarding Bey Wallet, you agree to first contact us informally at hello@bey.cash or through our official community channels so we can attempt to resolve the issue in good faith.

6. Privacy Policy & Technical Metadata

Privacy Disclosures

6.1 Data Minimization Strategy

Bey Wallet is designed to minimize the collection of personal data by Bey Wallet. Bey Wallet does not intentionally collect or maintain a centralized database of personal information such as names, email addresses, phone numbers, or wallet private keys.

6.2 Third-Party Infrastructure & Technical Metadata

When the Application connects directly to third-party services—including Cashu mints, Nostr relays, or external network infrastructure—those third parties may independently observe technical information such as IP addresses, connection timestamps, and network request metadata according to their own independent policies.

6.3 Local Data Control

Application settings, encrypted secure storage credentials, local databases, and transaction history remain stored locally on your device under your direct control.

7. Governing Law

General Principles

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable general software and open-source principles, without giving effect to any choice or conflict of law provision.
